Andere Kulturen, neue Sprachen, fremde Sitten erscheinen uns attraktiv und abenteuerlich. Von der medizinischen Versorgung bis hin zu Begrüßungsritualen, von exotischen Gerichten bis zur Kommunikationskultur – gerade die Länder des Ostens bergen viel Unbekanntes.

Am Mittwoch, den 19. Februar 2014, (19:00 Uhr) im Fuchs-Petrolub-Hörsaal (O 138) der Universität Mannheim, startete die HR-Werkstatt mit einer Kick-off-Veranstaltung,  

Unter dem Dach „ABSOLVENTUM-Werkstatt" sind zukünftig Fachvorträge aus den Bereichen „PR/Medien", „Start-up-Unternehmen" „Cross Cultural", "HR/Marketing" „Diversity",etc. geplant. Innerhalb dieser neuen Reihe wird auch die HR-Werkstatt wieder aufleben. Im Rahmen der Auftaktveranstaltung hat das ABSOLVENTUM-Mitglied Waltraud Gehrig einen Vortrag zum Thema „Crossing Cultures in the East – Warum ist Leben und Arbeiten in fremden Kulturen so spannend?" gehalten. 

A new cooperation partner

Research & Results 2013 - The Market Research Show

Waltraud and Natalia participated in the event “Research & Results 2013 - The Market Research Show” on 23-24 October, which took place in Munich, Germany. This event is amongst the leading international trade shows for market research. The main topics were:

  • Reflection on the current situation in the research world, important trends, news, development;
  • Presentation of modern soft- and hardware for both quantitative and qualitative research;
  • Latest experience in mobile research and research related to social media.

TRACECA Maritime Safety & Security II 

Waltraud has started a new assignment for the TRACECA Maritime Safety & Security II Project. She has to design a communication strategy for the project, targeting official authorities on a regional level embracing countries of the Black and Caspian Sea. More information about her trip in Kiev is to come soon on the blog. 

Presentation on funding options in the high-tech-sector

The initiative Heidelberg Startup Partners invited Dr. Christian Jung from the High-tech-Gründerfond (HTGF) to speak about challenges of venture capital for start-ups in the area of technology. The presentation was very interesting, gave new impulses and was accomplished through a lively discussion amongst the audience. More than 60 people visited the event and had the great chance for networking. Heidelberg Start Up Partners invited to a nice coming together to exchange experience and information afterwards.

Finalisation of the EU-funded PWMSP-Project

The Project "Paving the Way to the Mediterranean Solar Plan" (PWMSP), comes to an end on 31.08.2013 and herewith Waltraud finalises her assignment with the project and MVV decon. The website will be open and accessible for two more years beyond the closure of the project.  

I would like to take the opportunity to thank my colleagues in all the Mediterranean Partner Countries and my contractor to trust in my professional abilities and hire me for this assignment.

Georgian week 

Still under the impression of the recent travel to Georgia I have decided to launch the 'Georgian Week'. My impressions on Georgian during my last trip can be found under the blog section. You will find interesting information on this country, working style and culture.

Neuroscience in action – a case study and a vital guide to commission neuroscience research

As a member of ESOMAR Natalia Holl took part in the event: ‘Neuroscience and neuroeconomics - added value for market research?’. This session is organized by the VSMS - Verband Schweizer Markt- und Sozialforschung.  

Programme highlights were

  • How to measure the success of your brand? - Insights into revolutionary research and the power of models for successful brand management
  • Identifying future markets with innovative research approaches
  • Innovative approaches in price research: Price as a driver for growth in the fast moving consumer good area and watch it instead of questioning price research.
  • Consumer Experience on mixed mode approach cawi/cati and the critical limits of customer satisfaction.

Since February 2013

Currently, Waltraud is working as a short-term expert for the EU financed project "Paving the Way to the Mediterranean Solar Plan" (PWMSP), which has its headquarter in Cairo and a satellite office in Rabat. More information on the project you can get on the projects' website. 

The project works in 9 countries of the Mediterranean and is about to end in August 2013. Her task is to maximise the dissemination of the projects' outputs, re-vising and organising the website and support the management of the project to organise the final event at the end of summer.
